Riaz A. Choudhury has over 28 years of extensive experience in the financial sector, with the majority of his career spanning 24 years at The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited (HSBC), one of the world’s largest banking and financial services organizations, and earlier experience with IPDC Finance Limited in Bangladesh. Over his career, he has built deep expertise in corporate finance, investment, and business development, leading high-performing teams serving local corporates, multinational clients, and government sector entities. He has a proven track record in formulating and executing strategic initiatives, business restructuring, and strengthening risk management practices.
Riaz holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Finance from the University of Dhaka and an MBA in International Business, a joint program of Maastricht School of Management, the Netherlands, and Independent University, Bangladesh. He has participated in numerous senior leadership and management development programs organized by HSBC and internationally renowned institutions including INSEAD, Indian Institute of Management (IIM), London Business School, and PwC.
He currently serves as an Beyond his professional career, he is actively engaged in social impact initiatives. He serves as Treasurer of the National Heart Foundation Hospital & Research Institute, Dhaka, a leading specialized healthcare institution, and has founded a not-for-profit Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institute in a rural area of Sylhet to support skill development and employment for underprivileged communities.
After taking early retirement from HSBC in October 2024 as Country Head of Corporate Banking, Riaz transitioned into entrepreneurship. He established a trading business focused on commodities, chemicals, and feed ingredients, leveraging long-standing relationships with large corporate clients across multiple sectors in Bangladesh to operate on a B2B basis. In parallel, he initiated a manufacturing venture in Sylhet with the support of PRAN-RFL Group, aimed at generating sustainable income opportunities for marginalized populations.
Currently, Riaz serves as an Independent Director of Power Grid Company Bangladesh Limited (PGCB), a government-owned power distribution company listed on the local stock exchanges, and as an Independent Director of Midland Bank Plc. He is married with two sons and enjoys cricket and traveling.
Rais Uddin Siddique is a seasoned banker with over 20 years of progressive leadership experience in Corporate and Institutional Banking in Bangladesh. He brings a rare combination of deep local market insight, regulatory expertise, strong client relationships, and cross-functional collaboration to drive sustainable business growth.
Throughout his career, he has held several critical leadership roles contributing directly to long-term profitability and resilience of financial institutions. His most recent role was with The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited (HSBC), Dhaka, where he spent more than 17 years and retired as Senior Vice President in Corporate & Institutional Banking. Prior to HSBC, he worked in Corporate Business and Credit Risk Management at IDLC Finance Limited.
Rais possesses deep understanding of multiple industry sectors and maintains a strong network of leading entrepreneurs and business owners who play a significant role in Bangladesh’s economic growth. He is a firm believer in value creation through partnership, breaking organizational silos, and building sustainable, performance-driven enterprises.
He holds BBA and MBA degrees in Finance & Banking from the University of Dhaka and has completed several prestigious international and local leadership and business development programs. Outside of his professional career, he is an avid amateur golfer with strong ties to the Bangladesh Professional Golfers Association, an active social worker, and enjoys angling, traveling, and spending time with family.
